Guild Charter of Marked Souls

Introduction

The guild encourages teamwork, humor, and simple enjoyment of the game. The guild prides itself on a respectful attitude to others as well as a willingness to assist fellow members with any challenges in the game.

Motto

The company of members is more important than perfection.

Recruiting

  • An ideal recruit has a good sense of humor, enjoys playing with guild mates, and strives to become a better player.
  • Recruiters value behavior above age.
  • The only requirements are that members be respectful, friendly, and speak English.
  • Participation in the community counts for a lot more than their current skill at the game.
  • All members at the Officer level have the ability to recruit and we encourage you to do so. If you play with someone and think they'll be a good addition, feel free to invite them.
  • Recruiting will never be closed. If a player is likely to add value to the guild, no circumstance shall prevent that player from being invited. (The exception is when the guild is full recruiting will be closed.)

Code of Conduct

  • All members will be treated equally. From the guild leader to the newest recruit, all members are to be treated with tolerance and respect.
  • Behave with maturity. Being friendly and polite keeps the game fun for everyone.
  • Be helpful to all members. Players that have the time to help, do so.
  • The guild doesn't tolerate needy or freeloading behavior. Participation and communication will be rewarded.
  • The in-game guild and alliance chat systems are not to be used for trade spamming. Please use our forum for trading amongst guild members.
  • No bigotry or flaming is permitted. Any problems with fellow guild members should be brought to the attention of the Council in order to be resolved in a reasonable fashion.
  • You must represent your guild respectfully at all times. This means you resolve any issues with outside players directly and do your utmost best to resolve it peacefully and with dignity.
  • Members are encouraged to discuss any issues on the guild forum and to join in the discussions that arise.
  • The guild realizes that different members have different amounts of time to devote to Guild Wars and to the Guild. Therefore, amounts of participation are expected to vary Member to Member. All that is asked for with participation is that you show that you care about the guild.
  • To maintain activity within the guild, a member shall be kicked from the guild after time offline reaches "3 months".

Member Promotions

  • Upon accepting membership into the guild, a new member will have a two week probationary period.
  • At the end of said probation, the member will be eligible to begin the voucher process.
  • To be promoted to officer, a member must receive three (3) total recommendations with at least one voucher being from a council member.
  • Vouchers are to be sent to council members via forum PM or in-game whisper. The entire voucher process will remain private and confidential. Names of vouchers will not be given out.
  • At any time during the voucher process, any council member can call a council vote if that member has reason to believe a member is not ready to become an officer. The council vote would determine whether or not the voucher process should continue or be put on hold until a later date.
  • After a 3 weeks of inactivity, a guild member at the level of officer will be demoted to member status. Upon return, guild members will go through a two week probationary period to ensure activeness but no voucher process will be needed if the member is in good standing.

Council and Council Members

  • The Guild Leader is considered a member of the council.
  • Council Members are the only guild members allowed to promote or approve a promotion from member to officer.
  • Council Members are the leaders and decision makers of the guild.
  • Council Members are to represent the members of the guild honestly.
  • All promotions must be approved by the Guild Leader.
  • Council Members are required to be active on the forum. Failure to be active in the appropriate forums such as Council Business will be considered an offense. Council Members will be presented with a warning on the first offense.
  • Council Members committing violations shall be brought before the other Council Members and if found guilty will be demoted. Unless otherwise stated, warnings are not allowed for Council Members. They are the enforcers and peace keepers of the guild and thus should fully understand the rules of the guild. Demotions will come with a probationary period where the demoted cannot be nominated for an officer position for the duration.

Council Promotions

  • When a new Council Member is needed, potential Council Members will be nominated by the current Council and if the officer accepts the nomination their name will be added to the voting ballot.
  • Council Members will then elect the new official by forum poll in the Council section of the forum.
  • All newly elected Council Members will undergo a one (1) month probationary period. At the end of the probationary period all other current Council Members (including Guild Leader) will vote whether to keep or demote said nominee. Not everyone will make a good officer and leader and even the greatest guild members can make only mediocre officers. The guild strives to place officers in place that will lead Marked Souls towards its goals and preserve our online community.

Third-Party Programs

  • The guild does not endorse or condone the use of any third-party program.
  • The guild takes no responsibility for any members caught using illegal third-party programs.
  • The guild reserves the right to immediately remove from the guild any member using third-party programs deemed hazardous by ANET.

Penalties

The following are the penalties for violating the Code of Conduct and/or the Charter.
  • Any reported violations of the Code of Conduct or the rest of the Guild Charter will result in penalties.
  • The first violation will result in a warning to the member.
  • The second violation will result in standing trial before the Council. The strongest possible punishment is removal from the Guild.
  • The third violation will result in immediate removal from the guild.
  • Some actions merit immediate removal from the guild. (i.e.: the use of third party programs)

Changes to the Charter

This charter may only be revised with the consent of the Guild Leader and Guild Council.
